Main Line School of Music and Dance-Gladwyne Dance Classes
If you are looking for fun, educational, and inspiring dance classes from top-notch teachers in Gladwyne, you don’t have to look any further. Since 1988, we have helped over 4,000 students of all ages and levels learn the skills that they need to enjoy music and dance for a lifetime. Whether you want to study ballet (so you can dance like Angelina Ballerina, jazz (so you can dance like you are on Broadway), tap (so you can kick out some cool rhythms), or hip-hop (so you can dance along with your favorite music videos), we have a program that’s right for you. Our dance programs offer you half-hour preschool dance classes for ages three to six (creative movement) and hour-long ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop dance classes for ages six to adult. We are widely recognized in Gladwyne and the surrounding area for our unique programs that features small class sizes and a low pressure, family-oriented environment where you will learn while having fun. We also offer you performance opportunities and a fully staffed front desk to assist you with all your needs.
Seven Reasons To Choose Us For Dance Classes In Gladwyne
1. Small Dance Class Sizes
A small dance class size is a signature of our dance school and part of the reason why many students come back year after year. A smaller dance class size allows your teacher to give you extra attention, support, encouragement, and personal feedback that would not be available in a larger class. Additionally, our small class size means that you have a clear view of your teacher, can see yourself in the mirror, have full access to the barre, and won’t be crushed up against the person in front of (or behind) you. This is especially helpful for our younger students because your teacher can make sure that you understand the movements and that no fundamental concepts are being missed. Our studio limits all of our classes (ages 6 and up) to a maximum of just 12 students per class. With our preschool dance classes (ages 3 – 5), we limit all of the classes to a maximum of just 10 students per class.
2. Top-Notch Dance Teachers in Gladwyne
Our professional, highly qualified Gladwyne dance teachers all have college degrees from accredited universities. In addition to lots of teaching experience, all of our dance instructors have experience performing on stage. We offer many different styles and levels of dance and have teachers that specialize in ballet, jazz, tap and hip-hop. Most importantly, our dance teachers have warm, inviting personalities and are very patient and nurturing when working with children.
3. The Best Dance Facilities
Dance is a very physical activity with a lot of jumping so it is extremely important to dance on a floor that will protect your muscles and joints. Our dance studios feature a professional “floating” dance floor that rests on 700 high-density foam blocks under the surface of the floor to absorb the shock of any jumping to keep pressure off of your knees and joints. The top layer of the dance studio floor is a vinyl composite “Marley” floor, imported from England. It ensures that you can dance for longer periods of time without injury or fatigue as well as facilitating easier movement across the floor. Our floor also allows you to slide, with a degree of “controlled” slip, but is not slippery (so there is less risk of slipping and falling). Dance studios at both of our locations offer closed-circuit televisions with large flat screen monitors so you can view the classes from the waiting room. Each dance studio also has mirrors that extend from the ceiling to the floor so you can see your feet when you dance. Our waiting rooms are also stocked with magazines and other children’s activities.
4. Hassle Free Recitals
Our recitals are a one of a kind opportunity for you to perform in full costume on a professional stage with sound and lighting. The recitals are optional, so you do not have to participate if you choose not to, but all classes are invited to perform. Costumes and tickets are affordable (costumes are altered free of charge), there are no student fees, and parents are not expected to do any fundraising. The recitals are an opportunity for you to have fun, display the skills that you have learned during the year, meet other students and teachers from the dance school, and gain valuable stage experience that will build your self-confidence in the years to come. By dividing our recitals into smaller sets, we make the shows a comfortable length for family members. It is a rewarding experience that you will never forget!
5. Front Desk Availability
A drawback of many dance studios is that the dance teacher is also responsible for assisting with tuition and other administrative duties which cuts into the class time and focus of the teacher. We have a full time administrative front desk staff available all day (and during all dance classes) by phone or in person to assist you. This frees up the dance teachers to focus on teaching you and running the curriculum. The administrative staff prides themselves on going above and beyond the call of duty for you.
6. Convenience
With two locations in Ardmore (on the Main Line) and Springfield (Delaware County), our dance school is accessible to a large area and convenient to many locations. The creative movement and beginning ballet classes are set up back to back to accommodate siblings of different ages. We are also the one and only music and dance school in Delaware County so this gives you the opportunity to enroll siblings in simultaneous or back to back music and dance classes. Our helpful and courteous front desk staff assists with scheduling classes in a way that will make it the most convenient for you. The afternoon and Saturday class hours are perfect for children in school and working parents.
7. Extra Benefits
Viewing days are offered a few times each year where friends and family members are invited into the dance studio. This gives you an opportunity to view the class directly and experience first-hand what the dance class is working on. Our special “bring a friend” day is also offered a few times during the season and up to two friends are invited to participate in the dance classes. Teachers write class summaries every few months to keep you up to date on what your class is working on. These are sent out to you personally via mail and email. In the spring, you will receive a personalized progress report that also includes recommendations for dance classes in upcoming sessions. We also have a special summer session that allows you to choose how many classes you plan to attend, making it easier to plan vacations while still attending the dance school over the summer.
The Main Line Advantage
Since 1988, we have helped over four thousand students how to dance, sing, or play a musical instrument. From experience, we know what teaching methods are effective and what methods are not effective. We pride ourselves on the fact that we cater to each student’s needs, not only with top rate dance instruction, but with excellent customer service.
